The Keys offer visitors a chance to dive into some of the most crystal clear waters anywhere. In fact, there is so much to see and do in the Keys that scuba diving is usually reserved for the very top end of the scale, because most everything is so beautiful. One of the best diving experiences in the entire world is to explore the clear blue waters off the shores of the Florida Keys, and if you do not want to spend much money, then you should definitely book your trip to the Keys.

If you are looking for the best dive sites in the Florida Keys, you have got to head to the Blue Grotto. It is believed to be one of the deepest lakes in the entire world, and it can take a good dive in the spring time to reach the depths. If you do decide to go in the spring, be aware that it does get quite cold down there. There is no sunlight, so you must use thermal diving gear, which helps to warm you up greatly in hot temperatures. Most divers use a combination of sunglasses, a mask, gloves, and fins.

Sanibel Island Marine National Wildlife Refuge

Another popular site to explore is the Sanibel Island Marine National Wildlife Refuge. Here you can go deep sea fishing, or go dolphin watch, depending on what you want to do. The whole place is huge, and there are a lot of different things for divers to explore, including bird life, wreck diving, and even some nice little caves that are home to some exotic marine life.

Of course, if you are more interested in wreck diving, then you should hit the Spiegel Grove National Wildlife Refuge. There are tons of wrecks here, ranging from old wooden cargo ships to actual aircraft carriers. There is also some wonderful ghost town along the banks of the channel, and the Key Largo City Park provides some great historical buildings and sites for divers to see.

Bradenton Beach

Finally, there are two absolutely amazing scuba diving sites in Florida that you have definitely to see. One is in Bradenton Beach, and it is actually referred to as the “Cradle of Scuba Diving.” The reason why this spot is considered so dive friendly is because there are wrecks down there that have been completely stripped down, allowing you to see how they were built when they were still in the water. In other words, there is no metal and all sorts of other obstacles to limit your diving experience.

Also down in Bradenton is the Grand Bahama Bank Reef, which is another totally unique site. This is a man-made reef, and there are hundreds of different species of corals living within it, including clown fishes, barracudas and sea turtles. Some of the most beautiful corals in the world can be found in this area, making it a great spot for scuba diving. The Key Lime Caye in the Caribbean Sea is a popular spot for scuba diving as well, and it is perfect for a day or a week-long vacation if you want to experience a big underwater explosion of coral reefs.

West Palm Beach

The third place in Florida where you need to visit is West Palm Beach. This is the perfect spot for an eco-tourist destination because not only does it have a huge natural environment to explore, it also has a huge amount of caves and over four miles of beaches. Many divers come to Bradenton Beach for the crystal clear water, while others come for the reef, the waves and the snorkeling. As for the coral reef, it is incredible. As well as some great dive sites.

Last but not least, we will mention one more location: the Panhandle. The Panhandle is not just a paradise for scuba divers, but also is one of the best places in Florida to live. It is home to two very popular resorts: Sandestin and Paradise Point.

Final Words

In fact, you will find many tourists from all over the country flying to Florida in order to take in the wonderful scuba diving and natural beauty of these two resorts. The best thing about Panhandle is that it is surrounded by two large bodies of water: the Indian River and the Apalachicola River. Therefore, you will never run out of things to do.
